Built in 1904, the Jose Theater was one of the city’s most popular Vaudeville stages and movie houses. The Jose Theater was declared a City Landmark in 1990. In 2000 the San Jose Redevelopment Agency purchased the theater and completed seismic and façade upgrades. The theater reopened as the home of the San Jose Improv in late 2001.
