A Child's Life in the 1890's Grade 2 (STANDARDS 2.1, 2.4)
Students will learn about life in a farming community and compare that with urban life today. Hands-on activities in such locations as the Umbarger House, Schoolhouse, and Garden or Fruit Barn will provide an opportunity to experience life when so much was dependent on the land and nature for survival.
People at Work Grade 3 (STANDARDS 3.3, 3.5)
Students will visit three different workplaces, for example the Doctor's Office, Bank of Italy, and Print Shop, to learn about different occupations in the Santa Clara Valley in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, how these businesses supported agricultural communities, and how they contributed to the growth of the region.
Immigration Grade 4 (STANDARDS 4.4.3, 4.4.4)
History Park affords the opportunity for students to experience first-hand the cultures and lifestyles of several groups who have settled in the Valley. A visit may include going into the Ng Shing Gung Museum, Portuguese Imperio, and Fruit Barn to explore the immigration experience, as well as compare and contrast artifacts and stories of several different cultures.
