Experience Adobe Days

Peralta Adobe (downtown San José)

GRADE 4
STANDARDS: SS 4.2.3, 4.2.5, 4.2.8; LA Listening & Speaking 1.3; Science 6B

Students will help with the daily chores of El Pueblo de San José de Guadalupe. They make an adobe brick, dip a candle, design a brand, rope a steer, card wool, weave, grind maiz, fry a tortilla, and make yerba buena tea, create a corn husk figure and dress up in Californio clothes. Students should pack a snack; they'll take turns snacking and exploring the Adobe. Feel free to bring your own camera to take pictures of students in costume or purchase a disposable camera from us on the day of your visit.

Time: Tuesday – Friday
10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Group Size: 25 minimum, 40 maximum
Cost: $250 minimum, $10 per student
Chaperones: Minimum 7 chaperones required, maximum of 11. Chaperones must attend to facilitate activities.
