Dairy Hill, brought to you by History San José

Things

Contemporary color photo of an historic milking machine like the ones used at the American Dairy. The milker is a large aluminum container, with four rubber hoses leading from the top to metal teat cups that attach to the cow’s udders.

You can view catalog records for artifacts, photographs, and ephemera in the History San José collection that relate to the history of Dairy Hill. Each record includes an image of the object and a description of its historical significance. The records also include important information like the date it was created and used, what it is made of, exact measurements, and who donated it to the museum. Some of the objects in the catalog are from Dairy Hill, while others are representative of tools and equipments used in the dairy business.

History San José manages one of the largest regional history collections in the State of California. The region is geographically defined as the Santa Clara Valley, and “virtually” defined as Silicon Valley. The ultimate goal of preserving this collection is to share it with the broadest possible community.
