Manuel Theodore Azevedo was born in Portugal on October 15, 1870. In 1887 Azevedo left Portugal and made his way to San Mateo California. Like many Portuguese immigrants he got work at a dairy. He went from being a hired hand to owning his own dairy in just three years.
