Del Monte Plant #3
In its last 40 years of production, Del Monte Plant #3 grew to include more storage facilities and more modern equipment. The conveyor across Auzerais Avenue, a local landmark, was built in the 1960’s to connect the main plant with two new storage warehouses (#29 and #30). As fruit agriculture left the Santa Clara Valley for the Central Valley and other regions, it was necessary to store more produce for longer periods of time. The pedestrian bridge and the can conveyor allowed easy access between the sites.
