“Nina” Flores began working at Plant #3 in 1942, at the age of 17. She recalled, “[I]t was during World War Two, and there was a lot of work. And we knew somebody who worked there and we decided to go. All my…my two sisters and I and my brother, because it was much easier to go work and work nights. So we all worked nights and then the cannery would take us home because most of us were all teenagers.” Nina retired from Del Monte in 1987.
