Julian and Beatrice Sanchez moved to the Santa Clara Valley from Texas in 1960. Family members in San José encouraged them to move as there was plenty of work available. Julian, Beatrice, and their daughter Lydia drove from Texas; David was born in San José. Beatrice Sanchez worked at Del Monte Plant Number 3 from 1970 until 1995.
